Prioritizing Infrastructure and Emergency Preparedness

Protecting Aging Infrastructure

More Information

Given our proximity to the Gulf Coast and the increasing frequency of tropical storms and hurricanes, it is imperative that we focus on:

  • Protecting Aging Infrastructure: Friendswood’s roads, drainage systems, and utilities require consistent maintenance and upgrades. Deferred maintenance leads to costlier repairs in the long run, so it is essential to invest in infrastructure resilience now.

  • Strengthening Financial Reserves: Many Gulf Coast communities rely on federal and state reimbursements after disasters. However, with potential changes in FEMA’s disaster response policies, Friendswood must proactively build a financial buffer to ensure rapid and effective responses to future hurricanes, floods, and other emergencies.
