Over the past five years, Friendswood's budget has experienced considerable growth. In Fiscal Year 2019, the city's total expenditures were approximately $58 million. By Fiscal Year 2024, this figure rose to over $118 million, representing an increase of over 100%. While inflation accounts for some of this growth, it does not fully explain such a substantial rise. This trend necessitates a thorough review of our spending to identify and eliminate inefficiencies, ensure taxpayer dollars are used effectively, and prevent unnecessary financial burdens on future budgets.
